It appears that perhaps the bad days for Egypt tourism is over. This is because a recent rebound in bookings has been noticed which points out those travel agencies are again placing Egyptian cities on their priority lists after years of inconsistencies. This made many tourists escape Egypt due to rising violence and political upheaval.
As per a recent survey carried on by Trip Advisor, an online travel website portrays that bookings to Egyptian cities have increased enormously in the past three months by almost 65% annually. This is unique as an annual growth rate of this much hadn’t been witnessed since 2011 respectively. Various overseas travel agencies and tourist companies reported Daily News Egypt that they are receiving more visitors who prefer Egypt as one of their best summer destinations with good security procedures and a state of tranquility across the country.
Point to remember, tourism is an important sector for Egypt’s ailing economy. As per World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), it contributes to the GDP rising from 8.5% in 1988 to a high of 19.5% in 2014 respectively. Since 2011, the sector noticed a free fall, followed terrorist attacks. However, in the last few years, Egypt has put forth greater efforts to revitalize the tourism sector by bringing in a more developed tourism infrastructure and propaganda to encourage foreigners to come to Cairo and make the city one of their favorable destinations.
