On Monday, Mohamed Othman, adviser to the tourism minister for Upper Egypt, explained that this year so far is the best for Egypt tourism in terms of tourist numbers pouring into Luxor and Aswan, the two Egyptian governorates. He added that in spite of the adversity destroying the Egyptian tourism sector, tourist numbers this year came close to levels seen before its 2011 revolution.
He stated that hotel accommodation rates in Luxor and Aswan at the time of Christmas and New Year vacations remain high, emphasizing that portion of this growth is because of the growing fans of cultural tourism, particularly those coming from Scandinavian and southeastern Asia countries.
Tourists from Japan and China to Luxor and Aswan have grown by 200 percent, he said.
Othman also said that he has plans for launching more campaigns in countries keen to launch such kind tourism like Latin American countries.
