From 23rd February, Russian flights to Egypt will start again its services, as confirmed by Web it Mag, an Italian website. Three Egyptian airports like Sharm El-Sheikh, Cairo and Hurghada will be welcoming Russian flights once again to their bases. The airports have installed ocular biometric scanners in Terminal 2 for high-end airport security purposes.
After the Russian plane crash on October 2015 over Sinai Peninsula, Egypt witnessed a sudden slump of 51.2 percent in tourism industry as confirmed the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
This incident made many European countries along with UK to suspend flights to Egypt which devastated the tourism industry of this country a lot. As per the datas represented by the Ministry Of Tourism, monthly economic loss of Egypt post accident was approximately 173m. However, opening of Russian consulate offices in Hurghada, Cairo and Alexandria helped in 67.9 percent rise in Egypt’s tourism industry.
As per a recent statistics presented by CAPMAS, three European countries UK, Russia and Germany have kept tourism of Egypt strong with other countries like Finland, Russia Sweden and Denmark following them.
