Egypt’s tourismEgypt’s tourism minister explained that number of tourist inflow will increase this year as a result of good amount of investment for the betterment of airport security and cheaper Egyptian pound. Egyptian tourism industry had suffered a lot in previous years and went through mass protests along with suspected bombing in Sinai by the Russian Plane in 2015 killing more than 224 people.

In 2015, number of beach visitors and historic sites in Egypt went up to 9.3 million in comparison to 14.7 million in 2010. To quote Yehia Rashed, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism at the world’s biggest travel trade fair in ITB Berlin which will start on Wednesday, ‘’ I think if we are fortunate enough, this year we will come very close. We are hoping to close the gap as we go on.’’

Rashed said last Tuesday that he is yet to have the figures for tourist arrivals in 2016. More than 11 percent of the country’s economy is dependent on tourism. In the initial two months of this year, the increase of tourist arrivals was “very good”, he said. He also added that receipts were also improving as visitors spent more and stayed more.
