Thereafter it made an emergency landing in Paraguay owing to an electrical issue as stated by some airport officials and the company also mentioned it on Wednesday.
This airplane was carrying 274 passengers.
And it had to be diverted a short while after it had taken off on Tuesday to the Paraguay capital. This was mentioned by Ruben Aguilar who is the director of Asuncion airport.
An electrical element was determined to have overheated, he added.
Then it had to be replaced and the plane is scheduled to leave again for Paris later on Wednesday .
As a safety precaution the airplane released some of its fuel before it landed, according to Air France. At the time of the incident, its tanks were full for the 13-hour flight.
None of the passengers have been injured as a consequence of the emergency landing.
A passenger had taken a video shot of the incident and it indicated smoke emanating from the wing area.
However Aguilar said that this was actually due to the fact that when smoke is released in such circumstances it comes out from the tip of the wings.
