Elephant cruelty has got enhanced due to increased market for elephant tourism, which includes activities like elephant rides etc, as claimed by the researchers.
Oyster Worldwide share the same opinion with the WAP findings that elephants are being ill-treated worldwide for entertainment purposes. They are keen to raise awareness in measures which travelers can adopt and interact with elephants in safe and ethical settings.
To quote Anne Smellie, Destination Manager, “Oyster Worldwide is pleased that WAP has managed to bring cruelty to animals to the mainstream news. It is incredibly important that travelers and tourists are aware of some of the cruelty that goes on behind the scenes.”
Countries like Thailand, Laos, South Africa and numerous other destinations have become a part of the responsible projects introduced by Oyster Worldwide where travelers can work with elephants in a safe and protected environment. These projects comprise working with rescued elephants from cruel tourist trade or protecting these amazing creatures in the wild.
Oyster Worldwide work with stern vetting criteria for each of the projects launched. They work closely with their partners to make certain that they maintain their high standards.
