On Saturday, 16 April 2016 (from 11:30 until 16:30), an emergency exercise will take place on the grounds of the new BER airport. This exercise is being conducted by Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH in conjunction with the country of Dahme-Spreewald and will involve around 1,400 people from a variety of services. The exercise will simulate a collision between a fully occupied aircraft and a fully occupied apron bus. The Airbus A380 in the scenario will be represented by an airberlin Boeing 737 aircraft.
During the exercise there will more service personnel at Schönefeld Airport and in the town of Schönefeld than under ordinary circumstances. Flight operations at Schönefeld Airport will not be affected by the emergency exercise.
