Dubai’s national carrier Emirates Airline has launched direct flights to Sialkot International Airport on Tuesday, which is the airlines fifth destination in Pakistan. The Dubai-based carrier will take off four-times weekly to Sialkot with an Airbus A330-200 aircraft that offers 54 business class seats and 183 in economy.
On the inaugural ceremony Ahmed Khoory, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Commercial Operations, West Asia and Indian Ocean said, “Pakistan was the first country Emirates flew to just over 28 years ago”, said
The flights between Dubai and Sialkot will be served on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Each flight can carry up to 17 tonnes of cargo, giving an enhancement to business opportunities. Its flights from Sialkot connect through the airline’s glob hub in Dubai to chief business and holiday destinations like the UK, Europe and Middle East. Emirates Airline operates 66 flights a week to Pakistan including four to Sialkot, 35 to Karachi, and 11 each to Lahore and Islamabad and five to Peshawar.
Sialkot is around 125 kilometers north of Lahore, the capital of the Punjab province, in Pakistan. Sialkot offers visitors with a convenient alternative doorway to the first ever Export Triangle of Pakistan – the area encircling Gujrat, Sialkot and Gujranwala. The Sialkot is well-known for producing and exporting sports equipments and clothing, gloves, surgical instruments, cutlery, ceramics and leather garments, while imports to the region focus on the supply of raw materials for manufacturing those products.
