Engine fire prompts emergency landing of Caribbean Airlines

Caribbean AirlinesOn Sunday an aircraft of Caribbean Airlines was compelled to go for an emergency landing at the Hewanorra International Airport in St. Lucia following reports to the pilot about an engine fire.

 

The authorities were immediately informed.

 

The sources of Caribbean Airlines told the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) that the emergency services that were available at the airport had been placed on alert and were present on site when the plane landed safely. It was a short while after 3 p.m.

 

The officials at the nearby St. Jude Hospital said that they were informed about the emergency.

 

Then, they activated the necessary protocols in order to tackle the situation properly. None of the 68 passengers on board the flight were injured. It is yet to be confirmed as to where the flight was head towards, or its point of origin.

 

No official statement has been made about this incident.
