Engine issue compels emergency landing of Alaska Airlines in Philadelphia

Alaska AirlinesA flight of Alaska Airlines that was travelling from Los Angeles circling close to New York was compelled to make an emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport on Tuesday morning.

No injuries have been reported due to the incident.

The airplane that was headed to JFK Airport, landed safely after 9.10 a.m., according to Diane Gerace who mentioned this to a leading regional news media. A high oil temperature indicator forced the pilots to land in Philadelphia, the FAA had told it to the news media.

The crew chose to land the Alaska Flight 1420 owing to ‘an abundance of caution’ after the indicator came on as they were circling close to JFK on account of inclement weather conditions in the area of New York as per Bobbie Egan, one of the spokeswoman of Alaska Airlines who mentioned it to the news agency in Philadelphia.

Emergency crew were not visible at the airport when Skyforce10 hovered overhead a short while later.

Passengers deplaned normally and the airline worked to get them to New York using ground transportation and other options, as per Egan.
