The Flight OD132 that had taken off from Lahore around 9.25 p.m. local time on 25th June was expected to make the landing in Kuala Lumpur. But then, it was compelled to be diverted to Delhi after the pilot followed the standard procedure of opting for emergency landing in urgent situations.
As per the official statement issued by Malindo, the flight was capable of making a perfectly safe landing at the closest airport, Indira Gandhi International Airport within 40 minutes.
It said that all the 75 passengers on board the plane were safe and were offered a night’s stay in Delhi airport hotel.
Thereafter, the passengers were sent to Kuala Lumpur on OD206 and OD208 the next day. The statement also revealed that Malindo Air’s technical crew had been immediately dispatched to the airport with an aim to conduct the first-hand inspections with the technical handler under Jet Airways.
It added that the investigations with engine manufacturer and Boeing would be going on to detect the main cause of the engine problems.
