International Tourist Guide Day returns to Germany this year. To be held on Feb 18-19, this year’s event ties in with the 500th anniversary of the Reformation and is held under the banner ‘Reform – time for a change’.
The aim of International Tourist Guide Day is to offer free guided tours in order to showcase the job profile of tour guides, as well as their professionalism and commitment to their town, city or region. Its focus goes beyond reforms relating to faith and the Church to include other areas such as architecture, art, politics and society, which are explored during fascinating guided tours.
At the kick-off event in Naumburg an der Saale you can go on guided tours of the town and enjoy organ recitals at the Church of St Wenceslas.
An excursion to nearby Neuenburg Castle in Freyburg is the perfect opportunity to try the wines of the Saale-Unstrut region.
You can also enjoy fascinating guided tours in Frankfurt am Main. Subjects of the tours include societal change during the Reformation, changes in architectural styles and Martin Luther’s wife, Katharina von Bora.
