Besides the love for food, culture, fashion and design, there is an additional reason to visit Milan: the mythical Grand Prix of Italy, or Gran Premio d’Italia, which will take place from September 1 to 3, 2017.
Engrained in Italy’s culture, the Grand Prix is one of the longest running events on the Formula 1 calendar. It takes place every year near the city of Monza, about an hour’s drive from Milan. Built in 1922, it is the world’s third purpose-built motor racing circuit after those of Brooklands and Indianapolis. With an average speed of 300 kilometres per hour (185 miles) during all the track length, the Autodromo di Monza, also known as the “Temple of Speed,” is a reference point for motorsports, as it has been the scene of some of the greatest sporting and technological innovations.
Held the first weekend of September each year, the Grand Prix is the perfect excuse for a getaway weekend at Four Seasons Hotel Milano. From enjoying a pre or post race shopping extravaganza in the fashion district to relaxing at the Hotel’s Spa and indulging into delicious Italian cuisine at La Veranda restaurant, there has never been a better time to visit the city.
