European travel writers from Germany, France, Italy and Denmark are on a fact-finding mission of Northern Ireland this week, to check out our golf and spa facilities for visitors. They were invited here by Tourism Ireland, in conjunction with Tourism NI. As a result of the visit, more than 250,000 potential European holidaymakers will read all about some of our great tourism experiences.
The journalists have been playing golf on the Nick Faldo Championship Course at the Lough Erne Golf Resort, Enniskillen; at Royal County Down, Newcastle; and at Galgorm Castle Golf Club, Ballymena. They’ve also been checking out the spa and resort facilities at the Lough Erne Golf Resort, Slieve Donard Hotel and Galgorm Manor Resort & Spa.
Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase some of our wonderful golf courses and spa resorts to these top European travel writers. Our aim is to enthuse the journalists about Northern Ireland, so they will share their experiences with their readers – and encourage more Europeans to come and holiday here.
“Tourism Ireland is undertaking a busy programme of promotions throughout 2016, to build on the growth in overseas visitors to Northern Ireland last year. We are highlighting Northern Ireland’s Year of Food and Drink, the Causeway Coastal Route and The Gobbins Cliff Path, as well as other iconic experiences like Titanic Belfast, the Giant’s Causeway and our unique National Trust properties.”
