Eurostar has come up with a brand new concept for the passengers who would be travelling from Paris. From now onwards, electronic passport gates have been installed that would be enabled with facial recognition technology, following the example of London.
The company posted a tweet yesterday that mentioned about the new development.
It said that if passengers are travelling from Paris, they should definitely try out the unique new e-gates.
The passengers who are carrying biometric passports just need to scan the document at a first gate. Thereafter, they need to proceed to a second gate where a camera compares their facial features with their passport photographs. Only after the procedure is completed successfully, the passengers would be permitted to pass through the departure lounge.
More than half a million passengers have utilized the e-gates at the St. Pancras station that is located in London.
Here, they were installed in the middle of 2016. After Gare du Nord in Paris, Eurostar is also planning to roll out the new technology that is in utilization in a large number of airports to Brussels Midi station.
