Travel And Tour World presents exclusive video interview with Vinod Zutshi (IAS) Secretary, Mot, Govt. of India at the 50th edition of ITB Berlin held from 9th to 13th March,2016. Mr. Zutshi begins by saying that the government is aiming for a 10% growth in international tourist arrival in India in the coming years. In the past few years the country has received a 7% growth. Domestic tourism has also resulted in a good business this year with 1.5 billion people travelling within the country.
Mr.Zutshi then highlights some of the most important reasons to attract international tourists and one of them being e-visa facilities granted to 150 countries worldwide. Reduced visa fee is also an advantage to foreign travellers to visit India. The real game-changer is the launch of 24×7 information & helpline centre for travellers available for communication in 12 languages including German, French, Italian, Chinese and others. The soon to be launched incredible India mobile app will also facilitate travellers to move about the country absolutely hassle-free just at the go of a click. Government of India is focused on digitalisation of the tourism sector to enhance youth travel. 50 travel destinations within the country including monuments have been made into free Wi-Fi zones. The tourism sector has been granted 300 million dollars this year to enhance infrastructure and offer world class facilities to the travellers. The progress is going to be continued in upcoming years as well.
The government is keen to focus on niche products this year including costal tourism. India has 7,500km of coastline and pristine beaches. Cruise tourism is on focus along with water based adventure tourism. The Himalayas are essentially promoted for eco-tourism as well as spiritual tourism. International Buddhist Conclave presents great insights into spiritual tourism. India offers great prospects for wellness tourism as well.
Mr. Zutshi further highlights ASEAN Countries, China, Russia and Germany as major markets for International travel for India Tourism. For extensive marketing, Indian government has appointed pr agencies in UK, Germany, China and Japan. India Tourism department has left no stones unturned in digital marketing of the pristine country including extensive social media advertisements as well as though television advertisements.
