Private fertility IVF treatment for women fighting to conceive is costing a humungous amount in UK. As a result of which majority of such patients are being driven abroad and other European countries where treatment is still bearable. At a recent survey, more than 241 people of whom have either underwent fertility treatment or were thinking about it found that 93 percent of women and couples would prefer going to overseas. Those who have already received a fertility procedure outside UK confirmed of repeating it again.
Saving money has been identified as one of the prime reasons to seek treatment abroad. If look closely, we see patients in Spain paying as much as 50 percent less than what they do in the UK. Even though few respondents believed that the success rates were pretty higher while others pointed out easy availability of anonymous egg donors as one of the key attractions.
As per the research conducted by the Edinburgh-based Fertility Clinics Abroad, Spain was the most popular destination followed by Greece, the Czech Republic and Cyprus respectively. Some of them even mentioned Tunisia, Nigeria and South Africa to be good for treatments. IVF using your own eggs was the most sought after treatment and people were willing to pay between £1000 and £5000 for the treatment. Three NHS-funded IVF cycles are available for women under 40 years of age in Scotland.
