Heathrow expansion plans has been a major concern for the travel professionals for the last couple of days however travel specialists believe there will be a boost to existing and new export trade routes. It has the potential to create thousands of new jobs during the construction phase as well. Once built, caterers and retailers should also benefit from more travellers munching on airport sandwiches and buying duty-free goods.
President of the CBI, Paul Drechsler, said that the new runway would create the air links that will drive jobs and unlock UK growth. It will allow even more of the innovative and ambitious firms from Bristol to Belfast to take off and break into new markets.
The construction will work as an economic stimulus to a UK suffering from Brexit unease and will prove the point that it is open for business globally.
Business also need more clarity over whether airline landing fees will be increased to help pay for the development work. If they do then these will most likely be passed on to business and leisure passengers. The need for regional airports to better link into Heathrow will be vital.
