welcomed the investment by the Irish Continental Group / Irish Ferries for a new cruise ferry for the Dublin to Holyhead route as a huge mark of confidence in the Irish tourism sector.
Speaking after the announcement, Paul Keeley, Director of Commercial Development at Fáilte Ireland said that the scale of the investment at over €165 million was testament of the confidence that tourism related businesses have in the ability of the Irish tourism sector to continue to grow.
“In the face of the uncertainty surrounding Brexit, today’s announcement provides a huge vote of confidence in the Irish tourist industry. Today’s investment in the Dublin to Holyhead route in addition to Irish Ferries previous investment in the W.B Yeats which will service the Ireland to France route from mid-2018, will provide overseas visitors with some of the most modern, largest, and most efficient cruise ferries on the seas and will undoubtedly help the Irish tourism industry to further expand and enhance its potential.”
