The event, which took place in the Sheraton Hotel in Athlone focused on ‘Optimising Your Website for Mobile’. Topics covered included the importance of mobile, search engine optimisation, optimising mobile booking and payments as well as looking at the fundamentals of creating a strong mobile strategy.
Speaking about the event, Manager of Business Supports with Fáilte Ireland Stephen Dudley said, “Fáilte Ireland are delighted to have partnered with Westmeath Local Enterprise Office to deliver the first in our 2016 Masterclass Series, with the focus of this session on How to optimise your Website for Mobile to tourism businesses in Westmeath, Offaly and Roscommon.
“The role mobile technology has in driving additional bookings and revenue to tourism businesses is critical in today’s competitive environment. The commercial reality is that if users don’t find what they are looking for right away on a mobile site, they will quickly move on to another competitor site.”
Speaking after the event, Head of Enterprise with LEO Westmeath Christine Charlton said, “Collaborative events such as this with LEO Westmeath and Fáilte Ireland are important in bringing the key message that customers are now mobile and all businesses large and small need to ensure they are optimised for mobile to capture their market.”
Fáilte Ireland provides a number of business supports include management tools, how-to guides and funding information, as well as sector-specific advice on food and adventure tourism.
Fáilte Ireland, Ireland’s national tourism development authority, was established in 2003 to guide and promote tourism as a leading indigenous component of the Irish economy.
