Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board, local iwi and residents opened a new pavilion at James Watson Park with a dawn blessing and neighbourhood fun day.
Hosted alongside Clover Park Community House, the day was a chance for families to enjoy entertainment, stalls, a bouncy castle, face painting, a sausage sizzle and kids’ games.
The $380,000 pavilion was designed by Rawstorne studio with ideas and input from the community.
It will become a social hub for community activity, and will be used for performances, social gatherings, and to provide shelter for people watching sports games and training on the fields.
