A Qatar Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner with 254 passengers was forced to make an emergency landing seemingly because of a faulty engine. The plane was flying from Oslo to Doha which had to change the course and delay the six-hour direct flight into a much longer journey for passengers.
The plane took off from Oslo, which after three hours later landed in Bucharest as reported by FlightRadar. An incident report stated that the crew needed to shut down a GEnX engine. The aircraft diverted to Bucharest’s Otopeni Airport, dumped fuel and landed safely on the runway.
A Qatar Airways spokesperson said that the flight was diverted to Bucharest as a precaution and it landed and taxied under its own power, and the passengers were provided with the onward travel options. It was at least 10 hours before another aircraft picked up the passengers and crew in Romania according to FlightRadar.
Some passengers seemed unhappy about the delay and stated that there was no information in 7hours.
