For three days, 135 easyJet passengers expecting to fly from Jersey to Newcastle were stranded on the island.

At 3.30 pm on Tuesday July 30,  they were due to take off from the Channel Island on the budget airline’s flight 6474, for the 400-mile flight.

However, the ailing bus was stuck at the Jersey airport ever since and a passenger said that they should not have travelled to Newcastle on Tuesday by easyJet as it was cancelled after more than six hours of an engineer trying to fix the problem.

Yesterday they were brought back from the hotel they were sent and  had to wait again for hours in the airport without any information provided to them.

On Wednesday the passengers were informed by the airline that the aircraft was awaiting spare parts which got delayed being flown into Jersey that led to the delay in departure.

They were further informed for another night’s delay and were instructed to arrive at Jersey airport at 7:30 am on Thursday. A replacement plane was coming and they had to get here for a 9:30 am flight.

But it turned out to be a same plane, not a replacement and even though the engineer signed it off the pilot turned them around as the same error occurred.

The passengers complained that  no one from easyJet were in tough or did anything to get a flyable plane to take them home. They just informed that they were trying to get it repaired.

The passengers were informed online that the airline apologized for further disruption they experienced to their flight today.

At 3:13 pm they will be flying in a replacement aircraft, they understand that their flight was scheduled for 30 July and they did all they can to operate their flight as soon as possible today.

An easyJet spokesperson  apologized that flight EZY6474 from Jersey to Newcastle on 30 July was delayed overnight which  was due to a technical issue with the aircraft.

He went on saying that engineers attended the aircraft but unfortunately this could not be resolved which caused a further delay. The flight was due to operate this morning but the issue was unable to be resolved and so a replacement aircraft will operate the flight from Jersey later today.

The plane landed at Newcastle at 5.15 p, and was more than 48 hours late.
