According to the new figures in terms of tourism show that the number of visitors to Victoria increased by 11 percent, headed by 575,000 Chinese tourists spending $2.6 billion respectively.
Majority of the tourists loved the CBD shopping precinct as it attracted almost 1.7 million visitors. At the same time, 403,000 people from different foreign countries visited the National Gallery of Victoria.
The Great Ocean Road welcomed almost a nine percent boost as 932,000 international tourists visited the place outside Melbourne. Whereas, 509,000 tourists visited Phillip Island and 366,000 went to the Yarra Valley respectively.
Steven Ciobo, the Tourism Minister said that the increased statistics were “great news” for Victoria as the state ranked as one of the strongest performing states in Australia. “Victoria continues to benefit from its appeal to overseas markets, with more international tourists staying longer and spending more,” he said.
The newest International Visitor Survey points out that international tourist spent a record amount of $40.6 billion across Australia in the last financial year.
