Fire on Tube platform closes Moorgate station

Moorgate StationA fire breakout at Tube platform belonging to Moorgate station forced the authorities to evacuate this station and close it down.


21 firefighters and four fire engines from London Fire Brigade arrived at the Moorgate station. The station had been closed around 10.49 a.m. and none of the trains made a halt at the station. A spokesperson, Transport for London said that the fire had broken out on one of the platforms that is a part of the Network Rail.


Witnesses have stated that they have come across fire engine, horses and police cars at Liverpool Street that leads to the Moorgate Station.


Moorgate Station was closed from 11 a.m. onwards till it was opened again just after 11.30 a.m. today morning. Great Northern railways have diverted the services to Kings Cross station.


This is the second time that there have been issues at this station today. In the morning today, TfL stated that none of the trains have been stopping at the station simply because the escalators were all broken.


It is expected that disruptions would continue at the station at least till 3 p.m.


The cause of the fire remains a mystery till now.
