In July, 2016 Airbnb crossed a milestone of 100 million guests around the world having used platform. Across 191 countries, these 100 million guests have been hosted by a community of proud Airbnb hosts, creating experiences immersed in cultural richness and warm hospitality.
It is exciting to note that the first ever guest on Airbnb, at a time when the co-founders were still defining the details of how the platform would work, is Indian. As Airbnb celebrates this important milestone, and gears up to serve more guests across the globe, while continuing to build its vast community of hosts, Amol Surve – Airbnb’s first ever guest pens down his experience with co-founders Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia, when they hosted him at their Rausch Lane apartment in San Francisco, CA.
Airbnb has reiterated that India will be an important region to contribute to the growth of the platform, with half a million from Indiahave already travelled using Airbnb. The Indian market holds immense potential for a network like Airbnb given its heritage of hospitality, rich cultural diversity and the advent of the new age traveller.
