Globally-reputed Fender Katsalidis Architects have been commissioned to make the design for this hotel for Geocon that owns and operates the Abode Group of Hotels.
Garema Place is scheduled to open in the year 2020. And, it would be one of the first of the fresh deluxe offerings that the Abode Group is planning to being to Canberra, enabling the meeting of demand in the luxury market, especially from international tourists.
Nick Georgalis who is the Geocon Managing Director said that as per the recent announcement of the Chief Minister, the ACT Government was making efforts to lure high-end hotels to the city to help accommodate the record numbers of international tourists arriving in this part of the world.
Mr. Georgalis said that through the Abode Group, Geocon is planning to offer a global-standard luxury experience.
Georgalis also mentioned that the Garema Centre site is situated at the focal point of the city and is in close proximity to the world-class shopping centre in Canberra Centre and a few of the best restaurants, bars and attractions about 300 metres from the light rail stop.
Canberra develop Geocon has been quite active in Canberra of late.
Last month it had bought the Woden Tradies Club for a high-rise apartment precinct and also the Bega Flats site for a 500-unit ‘precinct-style’ development.
