UAE-headquartered TIME Hotels will officially unveil the newest addition to its rapidly growing hospitality portfolio with the opening of its first retail product – O’Learys Sports Restaurant – a Boston-inspired, US sports-themed restaurant located in Fujairah Mall, on 12th January 2016.
The opening event of the latest dining and entertainment venue to debut in the northern emirate, will be attended by over 20 local and international dignitaries and VIP guests including Jan Thesleff, Sweden’s Ambassador to the UAE, Jonas Reinholdsson, O’Learys Founder and Co-Owner; renowned footballer, Christian Wilhelmsson, Swedish National Team football star who also played with Al-Hilal (Saudi) and Baniyas SC (UAE).
O’Learys, which is a franchised casual dining restaurant chain, has a genuine Boston atmosphere, affording diners and sports fans, the perfect excuse to drop by for drinks and bites, while watching the big match, enjoying a meal with family and friends, or just relaxing with colleagues after a hard day.
Founded by Swedish restaurateur, Jonas Reinholdsson, who was inspired by Boston’s popular sports bar and restaurant scene when he worked in the US in the early 80’s; the first outlet opened in 1988 in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Named after his wife, Anne O’Leary, it was an immediate success, becoming a preferred casual dining venue for the community, visiting tourists and both local and international sports and entertainment celebrities.
Originally O’Learys was primarily located on high streets and in shopping malls, but since 2004, the brand has been a welcome face in train stations and airports.
“The Middle East is a prime target market for O’Learys, and with a proven concept and multi-segment consumer appeal we are thrilled to bring our brand to the region and to welcome sports fan, and lovers of good food served in a great atmosphere, to our first outlet at Fujairah Mall,” said Jonas Reinholdsson, O’Learys Founder and Co-Owner.
“As franchise holders for O’Learys in the UAE, we are confident that it is a dining brand that will resonate with the varied local audience, and we are actively exploring opportunities to place O’Learys restaurants in other key high traffic, high value locations across the country,” said Mohammad Awadalla, CEO, TIME Hotels Management.
A broadly appealing menu of classic burgers, signature buffalo wings, cheesy quesadillas, ribs, nachos and desserts will be complemented by an extensive collection of non-alcoholic cocktails and soft beverages. Customers looking for a caffeine fix will also enjoy the extensive coffee menu prepared by O’Leary’s own baristas.
The interior design is based on a rich combination of deep green, burgundy red and dark brown colours used across the floor coverings, wall finishes and plush furnishings, which include custom-made seating. Walls are covered with a wide selection of sporting and Boston-themed memorabilia, 55-inch television monitors line the venue with cosy lighting used to create an intimate yet inclusive ambiance.
The 334-square metre, 163-cover restaurant is also linked to an indoor karting area and laser shooting gallery covering some 2,240-square meters, making it a suitable venue for dining families as well as sports fans.
The L-shaped restaurant features a collection of seating arrangements including classic banquettes and round tables, ‘shoe shiner’ rows, counter seats and a lounge area with a choice of prime television monitor views or overlooking the karting track.
“We will also be faithful to the original O’Learys concept, which is known for its innovative and exciting promotions. Customers can look forward to daily deals including two for one discounts, ‘Family Fridays’ with kids under 6 eating for free, as well as the weekday O’Learys Business lunch menu for only AED 49 and special offers for diners who have purchased cinema/karting tickets,” said Awadalla.
“Sports fans will also be treated to the weekly ‘Super Sunday’ discount as they can choose any three main course items and pay for two while watching their favourite sports games between 8pm-9pm,” he added.
The current tally of O’Learys’ restaurants now numbers 100 outlets in ten countries spread across Asia, Europe and now the Middle East, with a 2014 global turnover of €163 million.
