ABIA officials stated that the flight was scheduled to reach Houston Intercontinental Airport from Vegas. Roughly around 4:40 in the evening, the flight was diverted to Austin as smoke was detected in the cargo-area on the back of the plane.
Although the Fire Department of Austin was waiting near the gate when the flight landed, they later found out that there was not really any sign of fire or smoke. Panic spread only because of a faulty switch which turned the indicator light on.
All 136 passengers were reported to be safe but, they had to stay stuck at ABIA for a while.
