flying planeFlights between Sydney and Mudgee have resumed, increasing tourism to the region and providing access to medical specialists for the Central West.

FlyPelican will now operate two return flights to Sydney each weekday and one return flight on Sunday.

Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance and Member for Dubbo Troy Grant said the return of this critical flight route will deliver ongoing benefits for the Central West region.

“Better connectivity between Sydney and Mudgee will boost tourism in the region, and will be a vital service for many people including the doctors and medical specialists who used to fly here regularly,” Mr Grant said.

Mudgee has been without an air service since December 2013. The NSW Government’s decision to deregulate airline services on the route allowed FlyPelican to offer the flight service to the local community.

Mid-Western Regional Council is providing funding to establish and support the airline for the first 12 months of its flight service.
