Spirit Airlines Flight 417 made an emergency landing at Detroit Metro Airport while heading towards Florida on Friday, 1st July. The flight was destined to land at Fort Lauderdale, but a possible loss of cabin pressure forced the flight to make an emergency landing at Detroit.
Passengers informed that the flight was hit with severe turbulence and all of a sudden, all the oxygen masks dropped from above. The flight captain informed the passengers via intercom, to put on the masks as they lost cabin pressure.
The pilot informed the passengers about the emergency landing and said that it would take about 15 minutes but the passengers had to wait for about an hour without any updates.
The official statement by the airlines said that the passengers were evacuated and the customer service agents helped them to reach their destination. It was also included in the statement that none of the passengers or the crew got injured during the flight.
The airline authority did not reveal any details about the prolonged landing incident. Some of the passengers informed that the cabin got too hot to keep the masks on. When they put the mask off, they could smell something burning and could also hear a beeping noise.
The airlines gave the passengers a full refund and $100 gift voucher each.
The airline stated, “We apologize for any inconvenience and we’ll be issuing future flight credits to all impacted customers.”
