Florida tourism blooms and continues to attract tourists

florida-tourismIn the mid-1600s to about 1840, young aristocratic Englishmen often visited classical sites in Europe as part of their education. They studied great painters, composers and architecture.


Their travel was termed “The Grand Tour”, from where the term “tourist” came into existence. Railroads started developing around the world by 1840, and the “Cook’s Tours” cam in place of “The Grand Tour”.


He founded one of the very first travel agency chains; the first of course, was Cox and Kings Ltd., set up in 1758. Walter T. Brownell was the first American travel agent who took 10 tourists on Europe tour from New York.


Although Florida’s tourism took off with Henry Flagler in 1883, it actually blossomed during the 50s and 60s and has continued to develop since then. Tourism is a major contributor to Florida’s economy and summer sees the peak in tourism here.


Private accommodation and attraction companies here aim towards Spring and Fall instead of concentrating only on summer. Not only families, they aim towards tourists who would be spending high on cultural and sporting events and festivals. Currently, booking are on for majority of Florida throughout the end of the year.
