If you have a gun with proper papers, you can carry them in your checked in luggage. As the summer air travel season heats up, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) asserts that flying with firearms is allowed.
The TSA security checkpoint at the Boise International Airport is a busy place to be any time of year, especially in the summer. But the screening of bags and luggage is slowed down even more when passengers attempt to bring illegal and prohibited items. It is quite evident that a traveler will not need a gun onboard a flight.
Firearms of any kind are also not allowed in carry-on bags. They can be in checked baggage, however, as long as the passengers declare them to the airline customer service agent at the ticket counter. They must also be packed correctly in a hard-sided case.
TSA identifies that ammunition can be in checked baggage as well, but must be placed in its original packaging and locked inside the case and magazines must be emptied. But again, firearms are never allowed in carry-on bags.
