Fáilte Ireland this week held an industry breakfast briefing designed for hotel sales and revenue managers from across the country in the Ballsbridge Hotel in Dublin. Over eighty hotel industry personnel heard guest speaker Kate Harth, Senior Vice President of Sales and Revenue Management, at the Morgans Hotel Group which is a hospitality company that owns and operates boutique hotels in the US and Europe.
Kate, who continuously exceeded targeted sales revenues, achieved the Special Achievement Sales & Marketing Award in 2003/2005 spoke on a number of topics such as: Maximising revenue opportunities; Sales strategy & alignment; Structuring a better mix of business; Creating a sales-centric organisation and Attributes of a successful salesperson. She went on to suggest that successful sales people have what she terms the 8 Ps – Positivity, Professionalism, Polish, Persuasion, Philosophy, Purpose, Perfectionism and Passion.
Mary Hall, Fáilte Ireland’s Leadership & Management Manager emphasised:
“Encouragingly there has been growth across all the sectors – accommodation, attractions, and restaurants – as well as feedback that the overseas market is performing well for tourism businesses – in particular North America. For us in Fáilte Ireland we have put together this industry breakfast briefing to support the Industry in their selling endeavours. We recognise that we in the tourism business have to become more assertive and less apologetic in generating & extracting revenue.
Indeed, Fáilte Ireland recently published its tourism barometer which showed that business sentiment within the tourism industry has increased significantly this year with strong feeling that the market has really turned the corner and the future is looking more positive.”
