In a session at WTM London that was entitled to discuss on how destinations along with airlines can work mutually in order to lure greater number of businesses, Ali Gayward, easyJet UK country manager explained that there are lot of benefits for tourist boards to work together with airlines.
She mentioned that the low cost carrier has sound knowledge on the destinations majorly preferred by its customers and what they like to do when they get there.
Gayward added that airlines like her company will equally take pleasure in comfortable rates with marketing and advertising agencies thanks to the economies of scale associated with them.
“We can probably secure much better value for money than if you went independently to some of those agencies.”
For the meantime, Jordan Tourism Board managing director Dr Abed Razzaq Arabiyat mentioned that government supported tourist boards are generally well placed in order to drive policy and attract greater number of tourists.
Over here, he cited the example of Jordan’s own travails when he first initiated to start working with easyJet. Later he discovered that the airline was unimpressed by a $60 departure tax, $60 visa bill and roughly $35 per head being passed on to each passenger in regards to airport charges.
But, after he took over the charges, the airline turned much more amenable to working with the destination.
Dr Arabiyat further added European destinations interested to improve its air connectivity must be all set to work with the low cost carriers as 90% of Europeans utilize the airlines for tourism travel.
