indexFresh from declaring record tourism growth last year, Barbados is rejoicing for holding the top spot in the worldwide Destination Satisfaction Index.

Barbados defeated the second-place Seychelles and Bermuda in third to top spot by marking the highest World score of 8.8/10, in general.

The DSI covers around 20 categories comprising beaches, accommodation, and cuisine and shopping on the basis of over 70,000 online surveys of the travelers.

Also, it ranked highest in the accommodation category.

While speaking at the award ceremony at ITB Berlin, William Griffith, CEO of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. explained that Barbados will influence the global recognition of the awards to additionally boost tourism growth.

“We’re going to be saying we’re best in the world, at least for the next 12 months and I think it helps us in our quest to move forward in terms of pressing for success for Barbados tourism.”

“What we’re really seeing here are different travelers from different countries all over the world giving their feedback on different platforms, and they’re all saying the same thing – that accommodations in Barbados are among the best in the world,” Griffiths said.
