The attendees commended the Sri Lanka Tourism Bureau for organizing the International Tourism Forum where the meetings took place for the first time. The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) said that it’s a great opportunity to showcase the country’s capacity to the foreign travel operators as they will now know what they will be offering to their clients.
The CHOGM 2013 and the Commonwealth Business Forum were strong platforms of opportunities to Sri Lanka in the emerging global market, said the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in a statement and added that the Chamber hopes that the participation of over 700 foreign delegates will materialize with significant contribution in creating new commonwealth business relations with Sri Lanka in the years to come.
“It is now in the hands of the private sector to exploit the benefits of CHOGM and the Business Forum to open doors to new business opportunities,” said the CCC.While congratulating President Mahinda Rajapaksa for assuming the responsibility as the Chairperson-in-Office of the Commonwealth Nations, the CCC pointed out that the position as the Chair will no doubt have a positive impact in leveraging Sri Lanka’s future benefiting its people. So far a number of companies have expressed their interest in joining the trade mission in January 2014.
