Union Tourism Minister K J Alphons while announcing the schedule for the first India Tourism Mart mentioned that India will be holding roadshow in China to attract more tourists from there. China has the highest number of outbound people.The Tourism Ministry wants to double the number of foreign tourist arrivals and receipts in the next three years.
India’s performance in the tourism sector was extremely well and after roadshow in the US there will be similar events in Russia and the Nordic countries in the coming weeks.
The minister said that they will have a big roadshow in China as it has the biggest tourists outflow. In 2017 it has 144 million outbound tourists and India had 2.5 lakh of that. Alphons wanted to make a move so that the number soars high.
India Tourism Mart (ITM) will held in September in partnership with the the Tourism Ministry and the Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism and Hospitality (FAITH) at Vigyan Bhavan. This will be supported by the state and union territories.
ITM will have the best buyers in the world who will meet the sellers which will include state governments, tour operators, travel agents and other tourism industry stakeholders.
The event will be helpful for the state to reach out to the global tourism market and showcase their product. There will also be top industry leaders from across the world.
