Formula 1 has officially announced that the Vietnam Grand Prix will join its calendar for the 2020 season.
Vietnam will be staging the Formula 1 race for the 2020 season and it will be a major boost to the already thriving tourism sector in the country.
The capital city of Hanoi will build a new street circuit and F1 will be potential race for many years. There are further plans of accelerating the takeover by Liberty Media in 2017.
F1 chief executive and chairman Chase Carey was delighted to announce that Hanoi will be hosting the Formula 1 Grand Prix. He said that since they were involved in this sport in 2017, talks are on about new destination cities to broaden the appeal of Formula 1 and the Vietnamese Grand Prix was a realization of its ambition.
He felt thrilled to be in Hanoi, one of the most exciting cities in the world with rich history and incredible future.
He was looking forward that it will become the highlight of the F1 calendar.
He is working in collaboration with the City of Hanoi and promoter Vingroup to enable a circuit that will test the drivers but also ensure that their fans enjoy the spectacle.
In April 2020 the inaugural Vietnam Grand Prix will be held.
