The assignment is Raab’s first as General Manager, having most recently served as Acting General Manager at Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeriah Beach when the former Regional Vice President and General Manager Simon Casson was promoted to President, Hotel Operations – Europe, Middle East and Africa.
“Richard is a consummate hotelier whose extensive experience in resort management and food and beverage will be a great asset to Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay,” says Casson. “Having worked side by side to open our Jumeirah Beach resort, I wish Richard well in his new position, with full confidence in his future success.”
Now well established as the Kingdom’s premier hospitality destination less than two years since it opened in March 2015, Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay is ideally located with easy access to the city’s major business and leisure areas, including the new Avenues Bahrain Mall, set to open soon. As tourism continues to grow in the Bahrain, this new waterfront complex will boast more than 250,000 square metres of restaurants, cinemas, arcades and a souq, with extensive green space including playgrounds, walking paths and gardens – all right across from Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay and accessible via road or water taxi.
“I could hardly believe my eyes when I first saw this remarkable building, surrounded by beautiful gardens on its own island in the middle of the city,” says Raab of his first impressions on arriving in Manama. “But it always takes the people to make it come to life. The outstanding staff members of Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay are dedicated to the exceptional service that is the hallmark of our brand around the world.”
He continues: “Our team could not be more delighted to offer Four Seasons customised services and world-class product to local citizens and the growing number of international visitors arriving in the Kingdom.”
Raab’s Four Seasons career began in the food and beverage side of the business, and has since spanned hotels and resorts in six countries prior to arriving in Bahrain. His diverse experience – and his ability to speak four languages – has prepared him well for leading the team at Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay, which combines chic urban living with resort-like amenities and host of award-winning restaurants. Among assignments in London, Hawaii, the Caribbean and St. Petersburg prior to first arriving in the Gulf region in Dubai, Raab’s resume includes the legendary Beverly Wilshire in Los Angeles, site of Wolfgang Puck’s original CUT, now one of Manama’s most popular restaurants and one of two of the international celebrity chef’s dining concepts at Four Seasons in Bahrain.
