It’s the hot summer season and nothing beats the heat like a plate full of delicious fruits. Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at The First Residence Executive Chef Erwan Laurenceau carefully crafts this season’s special menu at La Gourmandise, featuring the delicate and aromatic fig. Known as “fruit of the philosophers,” figs have been popular since ancient times, when the pharaohs took dried figs to their graves to sustain their souls on their journey into the afterlife.
La Gourmandise, the Hotel’s stylish French brasserie located in the heart of the First Mall, presents a menu including exotic dishes crafted with figs such as flatbread pizza dough topped with figs, sautéed potatoes, mushroom, mozzarella cheese, blue cream cheese and mixed greens; and crispy sea bass with a side of roasted figs, puréed celery root and beurre blanc.
The figs’ soft skin and crunchy seeds makes it ideal for both sweet and savoury dishes, inspiring combination of the seasonal fruit with fresh ingredients and curated gourmet starters, main courses and a variety of desserts on display at Cairo’s prominent La Gourmandise.
