When guests first enter Mint lobby at Four Seasons Hotel Casablanca through a lavish antique brass door, they are swept away not only by incredible Atlantic views but by spectacular Moroccan interiors that give a real sense of place. The traditional design and intricate motifs of the lobby provided the perfect backdrop for the Hotel’s first event spotlighting local craftsman Samira Haddouchi and her incredible caftan designs.
Samira Haddouchi haute couture is a label synonymous with exquisite hand-embroidered caftans drawing inspiration from traditional design techniques, producing unique pieces that are at once elegant and modern. Her designs have been worn by international and local celebrities alike, and her collections have been shown at major fashion shows including Paris Fashion Week. Haddouchi’s new collection features silhouettes wrapped in pastel-coloured velour, refined brocades and shimmering silks.
“The first time I walked into the door of Four Seasons Hotel Casablanca I knew that I wanted to organise my new collection show here. All the elements were there for me – from the Moroccan décor of the lobby, to the views on the Atlantic and the impeccable Four Seasons service. Two years later I am delighted to have organised my show with Four Seasons and I am especially thrilled that I was able to present my new pieces from my winter 2017 – summer 2018 collection in such a glamourous setting,” states Samira Haddouchi, caftan designer extraordinaire.
Mint lobby is an ode to local artisanship with its intricate Moroccan details including hand-carved stucco walls by Moroccan artisans from Fes, perforated brass lamps commissioned from the medina of Marrakech and broidered pillows showcasing the same intricate details that can be found in Haddouchi’s caftans.
The intimate fashion event showcased not only Haddouchi’s highly anticipated collection but also put a spotlight on the Mint lobby and its signature afternoon tea service as it hosted the Hotel’s first event celebrating the craftsmanship of prominent Moroccan artists and designers.
