Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC, one of America’s top leaders in luxury hospitality, will complete its two-part, USD 13 million renovation this March in pursuit of perfecting the “Art of Sleep.” With attention to art, locality and the luxury sleep experience, the city’s only Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond hotel unveiled the first set of redesigned contemporary-style guest rooms in the West Wing on September 22, 2015, and the East Wing will debut on March 1, 2016.
“Over the past 36 years, we’ve strived to be the perfect pied-à-terre for our guests while delivering an unparalleled luxury experience. I believe we successfully did it again with the enhanced amenities and this thoughtful redesign,” says David Bernand, General Manger of Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC. “We’ve received positive feedback from our regular guests on the new décor. They like the welcoming and tranquil ambiance that exudes comfort while playing tribute to DC’s cherry blossoms.”
Deborah Forrest, designer and president of FORRESTPERKINS luxury interior design company, led the Hotel’s redesign of the 222 guest rooms. The enhancement focused primarily on the guest rooms and suites to create simple and uncluttered spaces that welcome every guest into the ultimate sleep sanctuary.
Four Seasons Hotel Washington is a gateway to the historic Georgetown neighbourhood and the nation’s Capital. The redesign of the guest areas incorporates subtle stylised motifs that reference Washington’s famous cherry blossoms, Chesapeake & Ohio Canal and the Potomac River. Soft neutral shades of white, soft pearl and taupe spiced with coral, peach and deep chocolate connect the design of the corridors, rooms and suites to the rich browns and neutrals of the lobby designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon.
Rooms have a simplified yet sophisticated look with warm colour schemes and luxurious details. From the bed’s rich wood accented with polished silver metal detailing to the cognac-coloured patterned velvet pillows that line the upholstered sectional sofa, no detail was spared.
“Designing the guest rooms, suites and corridors for Four Seasons Hotel Washington is an honour and a distinct pleasure,” says Deborah Forrest. “The elegantly comfortable rooms and suites we designed support the discreet service and refined environment for which Four Seasons hotels are known, all while providing a welcome retreat from the energised environment of the nation’s Capital.”
The guest’s sleep experience was completely transformed by Four Seasons Signature Sleep. Signature Sleep was crafted so that all rooms are uniquely designed to facilitate a fluid transition between work, unwinding and sleep. Each room features the industry’s most customisable sleep experience with the ultra-plush Simmons-designed Four Seasons “Fat and Sexy” branded bed. Guests can customise their sleep prior to arrival by selecting one of the three bed toppers: Signature, Signature Firm or Signature Plush. To enhance the sleep experience and encourage guests to unwind, a sleep menu of luxury sleep aid items are offered, including scented pillow oils and calming bath melts, a pillow menu containing choices from memory foam to water-filled pillows, and food and beverage options to guarantee luxurious sleep. To conclude each evening, tea kettles and select choices of herbal teas are available to ease guests into a night of pure relaxation.
In addition to these features, the rooms have new amenities such as toiletries by Italian luxury goods and product designer Salvatore Ferragamo and a Caffé Umbria coffee maker.
