In continued efforts to raise money and awareness for cancer research, Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC hosted its 15th annual Drive Four the Cure Golf Classic at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm on Monday, June 22, 2015. Nike golf shirts, swag bags and breakfast greeted the 125 golfers who participated in the friendly day of competition. Thanks to the generous donors and participating golfers, Four Seasons was able to raise more than USD 162,000 in donations for the Washington Cancer Institute (WCI) at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
Throughout the day, players enjoyed a host of food and beve rage options including a tequila cart, specialty cocktails by Beam Suntory and a made-to-order grill station. Ending the 18-hole tournament was an afternoon reception of live music, 80 silent auction items and lavish awards.
The winning foursome of Darko, Davis, Radcliffe and Vollmer was championed with one round-trip ticket for each player on UNITED Airlines along with a two-night stay for two with breakfast at one of the following Four Seasons hotels and resorts: Jackson Hole, Whistler, Scottsdale or Chicago. Second place received a made-to-measure shirt and tie by Zenga and third place received a Nike golf bag. Up to USD 300 in retail accessories were awarded to the man and woman who came closest to the pin and shot longest drive. All players could participate in a putting contest that awarded winners with a brunch for two in Seasons Restaurant.
Since 2001, Four Seasons partnership with MedStar Washington Hospital Center has raised more than USD 1 million in donations for cancer research. Washington, DC has one of the highest cancer mortality rates in the United States. According to the American Cancer Society, in 2014, 2,840 DC residents were diagnosed with cancer and 1,010 died. Washington Cancer Institute at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center is the District’s largest cancer care provider, treating more cancer patients than any other program in the nation’s capital. With the help of the annual golf tournament hosted by Four Seasons, WCI was able to treat more than 95,000 cancer patients in 2014.
“Too many of our family, friends, and employees are affected greatly by this rampant disease,” says David Bernand, General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC. “Our Hotel is committed to the fight against cancer and will continuously provide support to MedStar Washington Hospital as they conduct ground breaking research that will save thousands of lives.”
