Children and their parents can head to Nelson Bay’s D’Albora Marina in Port Stephens for a host of free, family fun activities these school holidays, including reptile shows, live music, markets and a free cinema under the stars.
This year the school holidays will coincide with Sail Port Stephens, one of the largest sailing regattas in Australia, and so the area is expecting an influx of visitors – sailors, spectators and those who just want to experience all the beautiful region has to offer.
Children can get up close and personal with snakes, lizards and other scaly friends at the Blackbutt Reptile Encounters, held at D’Albora Marina on Monday, April 11 and 18, 2016, from 11am, and on Friday, April 15 and Thursday, April 21, from 1pm. Local artists will perform live music at the marina from 12-3pm on Sunday, April 17, Saturday, April 23 and Sunday, April 24.
The marina will transform into a free ‘Cinema under the stars’ on Thursday April 14, from 6pm. The 2015 Australian family film, ‘Oddball’, (rated G), starring Shane Jacobsen and Sarah Snook, will be screened, and families are invited to bring picnic chairs for the alcohol-free event.
On Saturday, April 16, the Sacred Tree Markets will take place at the marina from 10am to 2pm. Artists, growers, craftspeople and healers will set up stalls and sell a plethora of gifts, goods and fresh food.
