Tourism Ireland on Friday, July 5th, has introduced Galway 2020 in Frankfurt, at an event which was partaken by German travel professionals as well as journalists.
The event was timed to overlap with the state visit of President Michael D Higgins to Germany. After the launch, Galway band BackWest performed for President Higgins, the Irish Ambassador to Germany, and guests.
This launch was part of programme of promotions of Tourism Ireland to emphasize the island of Ireland to its ‘culturally curious’ German audiences. Tourism Ireland’s message is that Galway 2020 will provide German vacationers an exclusive cultural and artistic experience.
To quote Peter Nash, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Central Europe, “Tourism Ireland’s message for our ‘culturally curious’ audience is that the island of Ireland offers world-class festivals and cultural experiences.”
Germany is the third biggest source in terms of visitors to the island of Ireland and world’s one of the largest outbound travel markets. 2018 was the eighth consecutive year of growth for Irish tourism from Germany, with almost 818,000 German arrivals – a 12.6% increase on the previous year.
