Willemijn Geels has been promoted to the role of vice president of development, Europe by the InterContinental Hotels Group.
In the new role she will be driving the expansion of the group’s brands across the European business unit which will be inclusive of luxury, upscale and mainstream opportunities.
She will also be identifying new opportunities and work closely with owners and investors in a supportive and advisory capacity to bring a long-term revenue.
She will be operating from IHG’s Paris office and will be travelling extensively across the region. She is fluent in five European languages.
Throughout key markets in offices in Europe that includes London, Frankfurt and Moscow her wider development team is located.
They have further expertise on the grounds in other markets applying local knowledge.
She holds 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry and is an MBA in the international hospitality management.
In 2005 before joining the IHG she held the role of was development and acquisitions director for Europe at Louvre Hotels Group.
She has also worked in Deloitte’s transport, hospitality and leisure team in Paris, where she led multiple hotel valuations, feasibility studies, and transaction and strategic advisory assignments.
Karin Sheppard, managing director Europe, IHG, commented on Willemijn’s promotion that it reflects IHG’s focus on building further momentum and capitalising on the significant growth opportunities they see across Europe.
During the dynamic time for the business , Willemijn was perfectly positioned to further drive growth with their owners.
