Nick Georgalis, the managing director of Geocon said that tourists and corporate travellers to Canberra realized that there was insufficient hotel room supply in the national capital, especially in the sphere of luxury hotel sector. Geocon has commissioned Fender Architects to design the hotel and this would be among the first new deluxe offerings the group would be establishing in Canberra.
The brand owns and operates the Abode Group hotels and this company also expects to commence construction on the new property in the year 2019, welcoming new guests a year later.
The Garema Centre that is a $13.35 million hotel, is being worked out for the site.
This has been taking place after Matthew Winter of Colliers International has started taking a keen interest in it. Garema Centre now stands on a site measuring 1,052 square metres and has been zones as CZI that permits a new hotel to be constructed here.
Buyers from Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne have been eager to be a part of the sales campaign of this hotel.
