There were 299 passengers onboard the Eurowings flight all of whom were evacuated however, no explosives were found.
The plane was heading to Cologne from Salalah when the captain requested an emergency landing in Kuwait City. Mansour al-Hashemi, a spokesperson for Kuwait’s civil aviation authority said that the initial investigations did not find any explosives on the plane.
Eurowings said in a statement that the plane was diverted to Kuwait for security reasons and in consultation with the relevant authorities.
The Airbus A330-203 was scheduled to arrive in Cologne at 9.35am GMT.
No crew members or passengers were hurt.
