The German National Tourist Office (GNTO) will be first launched in India, the Germany Specialist programme for travel trade purpose.
Romit Theophilus, director of marketing and sales mentioned that GNTO in India will initially be more generic with an introduction to Germany and more in-depth modules to be issued in the due course.
Over the next one year, 1000 travel agents will be enlisted by the online training programme as per the GNTO. Theophilus mentioned those who register and complete the programme will be subjected to various trade events and familiarizations (FAM) trips the tourism board will be hosting.
Theophilus mentioned that Germany is still the most favoured tourist destination for Indians top Europe. For 2020, the target is around one million and by focusing for 2030 the country is set to achieve two million mark.
The largest tourism market for Germany is Delhi , Mumbai and Gujarat. The future campaigns will highlight the culinary side of Germany in 2018 and sub-themes like nature being the key theme of Culinary Germany.
